On-line piano lessons are offered by JBPS and are much like those given in person except students enjoy the comforts of their own home or business. Students and teacher communicate through Skype, using a webcam. It’s easy and fun! What you need to get started: Piano/Keyboard, Computer, Webcam, Music (provided by JBPS) |

Located in a peaceful, wooded setting, JBPS maintains a high standard of excellence and offers encouragement and support to all students learning to play either piano or keyboard. Each student is privately taught note reading and theory at their individual pace and in a fun and interesting way. Julie takes a positive approach to teaching, praising and rewarding students for good work and effort and correcting them in a constructive and encouraging manner. |
Julie Briggs primarily uses, but is not limited to, books published by the Alfred and Faber Publishing Company. These companies offer method books that allow for a natural progression in piano study. In addition to these books, Julie utilizes popular, jazz and classical materials of all kinds. Students are encouraged to offer their own input regarding the music they wish to study. Students are conveniently able to purchase all learning materials at JBPS in Lexington, Massachusetts. |
Julie Briggs Piano Studio (JBPS) offers a positive approach to learning piano or keyboard skills in both private and group settings. Located in Lexington, Massachusetts, JBPS offers a teaching approach catering to the needs and interests of individuals of all ages, from beginning to advanced skill levels. Julie Briggs is highly experienced with over 30 years of teaching experience. Along with note reading and music theory, rhythm and counting are also emphasized during instruction. Julie follows the motto, ”Say it as you play it”, encouraging students to count aloud or say names of notes while playing. This method of learning encourages a higher level of concentration, resulting in a quicker and more thorough mastery of the music. Julie believes that practice makes perfect when the practice is perfect. Work smarter, not harder! |
